Branscan Ltd is part of the private group Parascan based in England. The principal activity of Parascan is data communication and image processing. The main activity is in printing works, where their cutting-edge products are sold throughout the world.

Branscan was conceived and developed by scientists of Flour Milling and Baking Research Asociation (Campden and Chorleywood Research Association) to meet the need for flour-milling concerning the measurement of the purity of the flour. Branscan uses the principle of image analysis, which makes it possible to quickly calculate either the number of particles of bran in flour or the number of specks in the semolina. Reproducibility as well as the reliability of measurement are ensured, using a PC, by a mathematical algorithm.
